Google – The Gatekeeper to Your Online Success!
Have you ever wondered why Google is in the spotlight here? Picture this: 93% of global web traffic and, more specifically, 89% of Australian-based traffic struts through Google's gates. It's the ultimate matchmaker, connecting you with potential customers.
In fact, Google has become such an integral part of our lives that it’s actually become a verb. We no longer say “search for it” when referring to the Internet, we actually say “google it."
It is fair to say that if Google doesn't endorse you, the online game becomes an uphill battle.
And just to be clear, we are after organic traffic. That’s the content Google recognises
to be worthy to be displayed without the need for paid ads. Paid traffic might be a quick fix, but the real game-changer is organic traffic – a strategic,
long-term investment in your online success.
How Does Google Decide?
Understanding Google's mysterious ways is key. Google is what we call a search engine and here is how it works:
- Crawling: You publish your content on a page. Google discovers your page using Google bots or ‘spiders’ that follow links from known pages to discover new pages. This process
is called crawling. - Indexing: After Google discovers a new page, it analyses its content and stores it in a huge database of pages called an index. You guessed it, this process is called indexing.
- Ranking: Finally, Google sifts through a vast database using a secret algorithm to present the best and most relevant results to users. It presents them as ordered search results. That’s right, this is called ranking!
Fresh, matching, unique, and trusted content aligned with user intent – that's the
symphony Google loves. Nail the content, user experience, and technical performance of your webpage and you'll find Google is becoming your biggest fan.
